Fuel cell vehicle (FCV) is becoming most important development direction of new energy vehicles (NEV). International and China vehicle tycoons like Toyota, Audi, Honda, Benz, Hyundai and SAIC etc. one after another promote the fuel cell passenger-used vehicles products. Meanwhile, China enterprises make great efforts on fuel cell commercial-used vehicles, Zhengzhou Yutong, BAIC FOTON, Dongfeng Motor, Foshan Feichi and Wuhan Tiger etc. release fuel cell buses and logistics vehicles, accumulate abundant operation experiences.
Compare with traditional internal-combustion vehicle and lithium-ion battery blade electric vehicle, the biggest difference of FCV is that it applies vehicle used fuel cell system, which includes fuel cell stacks, air supply system, hydrogen storage and circulation device and DC/DC convertors etc., occupy above 50% of whole vehicle cost. At the same time, energy storage battery, driven motor and electric control system – 3 electric system – also play important roles in FCV high-efficiency operation.
China FCV industry development accelerates. <Yangtze River Delta Hydrogen Corridor Construction Development Plan> released in May 2019 proposed that, by 2030, Yangtze River Delta will have more than 200k FCV, 500 hydrogen refueling stations (HRS). <China Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Industry White Book> (2019) shows that, by 2035, China FCV will reach 1.3M and HRS will reach 1500.
As it is not limited by HRS infrastructure, reformed methanol fuel cell (RMFC) vehicle is also causing attentions of the industry. A van, produced by Dongfeng Motor and supported with RMFC from Suzhou Palcan, is listed in MIIT <NEV Popularization and Application Recommendation Vehicle Type Catalog> (Batch 12, 2018) and put into operation in 2019 in Zhejiang Huzhou. Beijing Heracles has R&D the high-temperature PEMFC system and supported MEA and stack. May 2019, Danish Blue World signed agreement with Wuxi Lead and would construct 50kt/a RMFC factory.
China International Fuel Cell Vehicle Technology Forum 2019 will be held on 21-22 November in Shanghai, China. The conference will discuss global and China fuel cell vehicle development current situation and market prospect; hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and methanol fuel cell vehicles operation experiences; vehicle used fuel cell systems and key parts – stacks, hydrogen storage tank, hydrogen circulation system and air supply system; fuel cell vehicle used energy storage battery, driven engine and electric control system, reformed methanol fuel cell key technology and core devices etc.
