On February 27, 2025, Jiangsu Zhona Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Zhona Energy") announced the commencement of its Baigu Energy Project located in the Yancheng High-Tech Zone, Jiangsu Province.

The project is planned with a total capacity of 2.5GWh. The R&D center and Phase I pilot line have a total investment of 300 million yuan and an annual capacity of 0.5GWh. It supports the iteration of solid-state battery technology and reserves space for modular production line upgrades. Through pilot-scale debugging, the project can quickly optimize process parameters and accelerate the mass production of products, with an expected official launch in 2025.

Since the project started in November 2024, progress has been smooth, with all work proceeding as planned. The electromechanical installation is ongoing and is expected to be completed in April. In May, public auxiliary equipment debugging will begin, and production equipment will be moved in. The project is expected to officially go into production in the second half of the year.

Baigu Energy serves as the core hub in Zhona Energy's strategic layout for large-scale, low-cost, and high-yield intelligent manufacturing of sodium-ion batteries and the industrialization of solid-state batteries. It holds significant strategic importance. It not only releases the accumulated capabilities in product definition validation and process innovation from Zhona Energy's four years of basic R&D, industry resource integration, and sodium iron sulfate industrialization exploration but also becomes a key link in promoting the implementation and shipment of high-quality 5GWh-level capacity. Additionally, Baigu Energy is tasked with the important mission of collaborating with Professor Wen Zhaoyin's team from the Energy Materials Research Center of the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, to convert the R&D achievements of high-safety, high-energy-density polymer solid-state batteries into practical applications.
