The PEEK and PPS Specialty Engineering Plastics Technology Forum will be held in Nanjing on September 10-11, 2026, organized by Asiainfo Consulting. The forum will bring together PEEK and PPS resin manufacturers, key raw material monomer suppliers, compounders, and downstream users to jointly discuss key technologies, industry trends, and market prospects for PEEK and PPS. An industrial site visit will be arranged.
In the first half of 2026, the expansion of AI computing infrastructure, the industrialization of embodied intelligent robots, the commercialization acceleration of the low-altitude economy, and the continuous iteration of the new energy vehicle industry have driven sustained growth in demand for modified plastics, specialty engineering plastics, and lightweight composite materials. Among these, high-end specialty engineering plastics are widely used in key areas such as data center connectors, PCB substrates, and structural components of embodied intelligent robots, driving the continued increase in market penetration of high-end specialty materials.
Entering 2026, the domestic PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone) project industrial layout is accelerating. From the first half of the year to August, publicly disclosed planned capacities for new PEEK and integrated facilities have exceeded 30,000 tons/year, with supporting key monomer DFBP exceeding 6,000 tons/year.
-- Junhua Holdings Fluorenone and PEEK Integrated Project
On August 12, Shandong Junqihua New Material Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Shandong Junqihua") released the first public notice of environmental impact assessment public participation for its new 2,500 tons/year specialty engineering plastics and 3,000 tons/year fluorenone project on a third-party platform. The project has a total investment of RMB 1.2 billion, is located in the Jining New Materials Industrial Park, and covers an area of approximately 254 mu. Junhua Holdings had already established Shandong Junhao Company in the Jining Park as early as 2018, with mature PEEK polymerization capacity already in place, and its products have been used in supporting components for the Long March 5B carrier rocket.
Upon full completion and commissioning, the project will form a specialty engineering plastics production capacity of 2,000 tons/year of PEEK and 500 tons/year of LPEEK, as well as a monomer capacity of 3,000 tons/year of 4,4'-difluorobenzophenone, while producing by-products including hydrochloric acid, polyaluminum chloride, and sodium fluoride. Phase I will first put into operation 1,000 tons of PEEK, 500 tons of LPEEK, and 1,500 tons of fluorenone, with the remaining capacity to be released gradually in Phase II.
-- PetroChina PEEK Project
On August 21, Lanhai New Materials (Tongzhou Bay) Co., Ltd. issued a tender notice for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of its continuous-process PEEK production process and downstream application processing technology development project. Planned timeline: Q4 2026. The 300 tons/year continuous-process PEEK pilot plant project is a technological innovation project organized by the Group's Science and Technology Management Department, aiming to build a 300 tons/year continuous-process PEEK pilot plant, which will include polymerization units, extraction and washing units, solvent recovery units, and product packaging units. Currently, the feasibility study report for the project has been approved by the Science and Technology Management Department.
Lanhai New Materials (Tongzhou Bay) Co., Ltd. was established on May 9, 2024, as a large state-owned enterprise wholly funded by PetroChina Co., Ltd. in the Tongzhou Bay Demonstration Zone, Nantong City, Jiangsu Province. On August 11, 2026, Lanhai New Materials (Tongzhou Bay) Co., Ltd.'s invention patent for "Continuous Production System and Process for Polyether Ether Ketone" was published.
-- Zhongyan Technology Fluorenone and PEEK Integrated Project
On August 6, Zhongyan Technology announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Zhongyan Tuopu Polymer Materials (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd., had recently completed registration and filing procedures and obtained the "Business License" from the Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone Market Supervision Administration.
On July 17, Zhongyan Technology (688716) issued an announcement stating its intention to invest RMB 100 million to establish a wholly-owned subsidiary, Zhongyan Tuopu Polymer Materials (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd., to build a 10,000 tons/year PEEK polymer materials and 2,000 tons/year PEEK raw material (fluorenone) integrated project in the Zhangjiagang Yangtze River Chemical Industry Park. The total project investment is approximately RMB 1.2 billion, with a planned land area of approximately 160 mu.
The project completed its public notice on May 15, 2026. Upon completion, it will enable Zhongyan Technology to multiply its PEEK capacity from the existing 1,000 tons/year and establish a closed-loop self-sufficiency for the upstream core raw material fluorenone. Zhongyan Technology is the first drafting unit of the national PEEK industry standard, the fourth PEEK enterprise globally with a thousand-ton-level stable production capacity, and the second enterprise in the world, after the UK's Victrex, to adopt 5,000L large-scale reactors for PEEK polymerization production.
-- Xinhua New Materials PEEK Full-Industry-Chain Project
On July 27, Xinhua New Materials, a leader in DFBP, responded to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange's second round of inquiry letters for its private placement and simultaneously disclosed the revised 2026 private placement prospectus. The company's planned non-public issuance is expected to raise no more than RMB 1 billion, with funds to be invested in three major projects, aiming to build an integrated "core raw material - resin - composite" specialty engineering plastics system.
Among these, RMB 702 million will be used to build 8,100 tons of high-performance resins/composites (including 3,000 tons of PAEK, of which PEEK is the most important variety), and RMB 254 million will be used to expand DFBP production by 5,000 tons. The project is scheduled to commence construction in 2026, with a construction period of 36 months, and is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2029.
-- Ningbo Fengmei Piyike PEEK Project
On August 3, Shanghai Kumho Sunny Plastics Co., Ltd. and Ningbo Fengmei Piyike New Materials Co., Ltd. officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement. According to the agreement, Fengmei Piyike will become Kumho Sunny's core strategic supplier of PEEK resin, providing stable, high-quality domestically produced virgin raw materials. Leveraging the technical expertise of both parties, the joint team will accelerate the development of a series of high-end PEEK modified grades, including glass fiber reinforced, carbon fiber reinforced, wear-resistant, conductive, and medical grades.
In August, it was reported that Ningbo Huaxiang recently responded that its investee company, Fengmei Piyike, is collaborating with Kumho Sunny primarily on the development and manufacturing of PEEK modified materials; the capacity construction of Fengmei Piyike is progressing as planned.
On July 24, Ningbo Fengmei Piyike New Materials Co., Ltd.'s 4,000 tons/year PEEK project passed the safety conditions review for hazardous chemicals construction projects. In September 2025, Jilin University authorized three core PEEK-related patents to Ningbo Fengmei Piyike New Materials Co., Ltd. under a general license.
-- Sinochem Dezhou Shihua Fluorenone and PEEK Pilot Project
On July 31, the Dezhou Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau published a public notice regarding the acceptance of the environmental impact assessment report for Dezhou Shihua Chemical Co., Ltd.'s 100 tons/year PEEK pilot project. The total project investment is RMB 9.05 million.
On June 3, the Dezhou Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau issued a public notice regarding the approval decision for the environmental impact assessment of Dezhou Shihua Chemical Co., Ltd.'s 500 tons/year fluorenone pilot project. The total project investment is RMB 9.8 million.
Dezhou Shihua Chemical Co., Ltd., formerly the Dezhou Petrochemical Plant established in 1971, completed its restructuring in 2007 and is now a wholly state-owned enterprise under the Chlor-Alkali Business Division of Sinochem Holdings Corporation Ltd., located in the Tianqu Industrial Park of Dezhou, Shandong. It is a leading enterprise in Dezhou's chemical industry chain, a national-level green factory, and one of China's Top 500 Chemical Enterprises.
-- Shandong Xiangyue DFBP and PEEK Integrated Project
On July 27, the Tai'an Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau formally accepted the Environmental Impact Report for "Shandong Xiangyue New Material Technology Co., Ltd.'s Specialty Engineering Plastics PEEK Polymer and Raw Material Project (4,4-Difluorobenzophenone)." The project is located within the factory premises of Shandong Zhuotai Grease Technology Co., Ltd. in the Ningyang Chemical Industry Park, with a total investment of RMB 184.486 million. The project will be constructed in two phases. Phase I: construction of a 4,4-difluorobenzophenone (DFBP) and polyaluminum chloride production line, and one PEEK resin production line. Upon completion, it will produce 1,000 tons/year of DFBP and 500 tons/year of PEEK resin, with 6,000 tons/year of polyaluminum chloride as a by-product. Phase II: an additional investment of RMB 65 million to add one more PEEK resin production line, increasing PEEK resin capacity by another 500 tons/year. Shandong Xiangyue New Material Technology Co., Ltd. was established in July 2025 as a subsidiary of Shandong Zhuotai Grease Technology Co., Ltd.
-- Levima Pulixin New Materials 600-ton PEEK Project
On July 30, the second public notice of the environmental impact assessment for Taixing Pulixin New Materials' 600 tons/year PEEK project was released. The project involves the purchase of 28.88 mu of land with an investment of RMB 180 million, to build one resin production line and two pelletizing lines, with output split into 250 tons of pure resin pellets, 50 tons of molding powder, 150 tons of carbon fiber reinforced, and 150 tons of glass fiber reinforced products. Levima New Materials confirmed in June that it had completed PEEK technology development and pilot trials. This project marks its transition from general polyolefins to high-temperature condensation resins, entering the construction phase, with production expected to commence in 2027.
-- Baihehua 1,000 tons/year PEEK Project
On July 21, Baihehua Group acquired 29.499 mu of land in Hangzhou Qiantang for the construction of a 1,000 tons/year PEEK project. The project will be built in two phases, with Phase I investment not exceeding RMB 50 million to build 200 tons of capacity with a 12-month construction period. Phase II will be initiated depending on market conditions. Baihehua has been primarily focused on organic pigments, and its expansion into PEEK and other high-performance materials reflects a trend among traditional fine chemical companies seeking new growth points.
-- Puhua Lianke 3,000 tons/year PEEK Resin Polymerization Project
In July, Puhua Lianke (Liaoning) High-Purity Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. released the first public notice for the environmental impact assessment of its 3,000 tons/year PEEK resin polymerization project in the Fushun High-tech Zone. The plan is to build 6 PEEK production lines, each equipped with reactors, steel-belt cooling flakers, slicing and pelletizing machines, ethanol extraction tanks, washing tanks, and other equipment. All production lines will use the same process to produce PEEK.
