LONGI Lianyungang Green Methanol Project Biomass Gasification PDP Passed Appraisal

ASIACHEM recently launched China biomass gasification process & project 2026 annual reportand China biomass gasification process & project database”. Biomass gasification is the core technology in sustainable fuel industry, using the syngas (H2, CO, CO2) obtained from biomass gasification to produce green methanol, or to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) through F-T synthesis reaction. Home & abroad planned green methanol/SAF projects has totalized up over CNY300bn investment, bringing huge business opportunities for the technology/equipment suppliers and engineering companies engaging in biomass gasification industry chain. 


From Jan 15th to 16th, LONGI Green Energy, Sun Power Tech Group and Lianyungang Port Group jointly invested LONGI-Sun Power Lianyungang 180kt/a green methanol project made an important advancement, the biomass gasification unit PDP appraisal was held at the HQ of Sun Power Tech Group.

 

Through full discussions, the three parties formed a detailed inquiry list on missing items and doubts found in PDP package, and confirmed the final rectification scheme. The biomass gasification PDP check & review was the closure of LONGI-Sun Power Lianyungang project serial PDP appraisal and, with the smooth closure, the project promotion as a whole would be accelerated in general, and formally entered the basic engineering deepening and long-ahead equipment purchase key stages.

 

LONGI-Sun Power Lianyungang 180kt/a green methanol project is a CNY3bn investment, applying the three parties jointly developed O2-firingP fluidized bed gasification process. The process completed pilot test with success in Jun 2025, now ready for industrial application. The project would take the back-up of Lianyungang abundant agricultural & forestry waste resource and, through the advanced biomass gasification process, convert the resource to green methanol, not only solving the agriculture waste treatment difficulty, but also realizing the recycled use of carbon resource, highly meeting the core demand of green energy development under the “carbon peaking/neutrality” target.
